A key tool in the Handwriting Tree® this 108-page, full color, workbook has the instructional aids you need to engage children in learning to write upper case letters. The workbook contains all of the guidelines, colors, and engaging characters that are consistent with the rest of the Handwriting Tree® materials.
Pages for each upper case letter include a re-creation, in print, of the letter outline containing cues and arrow directional guides in context of the Handwriting Tree™ spatial guide. This page creates a smooth transition from the reverse chalkboard/upper case letter cards to writing on paper. The remaining pages for each letter permit the student to create the letter in progressively smaller sizes, with less and less guidance. The last page for each letter is a copy of the Handwriting Tree®’s “transition to kindergarten” paper.
Included in the instruction for each letter is an engaging, spatially-based coloring exercise. These line drawing-based educational experiences assist with learning letter names in association with their sounds (orthographic coding) and are designed to promote language skills with “who, what, where, and why” questions. These engaging drawings are especially useful for children with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) because they engage the students in an activity that promotes skill building but does not require coloring an entire picture.
Most important, they are fun!
